Human Resource Management pertains to the strategic management of personnel as regards to the recruitment, selection, allocation, placement, promotion, training and other aspects of employment. The activities of human resource in this context refer to the selection of skilled employees for the benefit of an organization. It also deals with the selection of employees for different positions within an organization. The scope of human resource management includes the recruitment of talent for higher positions, training and development of existing employees, and the selection of a new manager to take care of the organizational objectives. All these activities form an important aspect of the work culture of any organization.
Human Resource Management pertains to the task of delegating proper authority and responsibility for business objectives, salary, working conditions, work security, benefits and other relevant issues to the various employees of the organization. It is an important part of organisational development, which involves several processes, such as training, development of skills, professional certification, professional consultation and advice, selection of appropriate staff, evaluation of performance and conduct of employee discipline. In the United States, the term Human Resources is commonly used to define the process by which jobs are selected and employees are hired and fired.
The functions, responsibilities and roles of a human resource officer are shared by a number of senior officers of an organization. These include the chief human resources officer, who are also known as the executive director; the chief human resources officer, who are known as the senior responsible officer; the deputy chief human resources officer, who are also known as the deputy chief human resources officer; the regional heads of human resources who are also known as regional heads of human resources in their respective areas of operations; and the managers, senior managers and supervisors of the department or division concerned. These senior managers and supervisors form the human resources management team which assists the company in its occupational planning. Other roles of the senior management team consist of the finance and accounting senior managers who are responsible for overall financial responsibilities; the senior marketing manager who is responsible for advertising, promotional and social marketing activities; and the procurement, manufacturing and distribution of senior managers who are responsible for acquisition of required raw materials, goods and services, as well as for procurement of necessary subcontractors and suppliers.
